Individual Unit Awards

If you are interested in shorter courses but specific to one particular area in hairdressing, then this is the choice for you. The Individual Units can be taken as an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification Certification in City & Guilds) or can be taken alone, just as a learning & training experience. 

LV2 Course Description

The aim of this unit is to provide the learner with the knowledge and skills to change hair colour using basic techniques.

The skills developed by the learner include colour applications for full-head, re-growth, high-lightening techniques, combination of colouring techniques and an understanding in the colouring theory knowledge.

The knowledge acquired by the learner will enable them to understand how to select suitable application methods, choose suitable products, work safely and efficiently and to give aftercare advice.

Assessment:
Assessments in practical observations, and a knowledge and understanding on-line test.

Learner will also need to undergo the Health & Saftey Theory Knowledge and on-line test.

It is vital to produce your own models both for practice and examinations.

LV3 Course Description

The aim of this award is to develop your creative skills to an advanced level to combine, adapt and personalise a range of colouring and lightening techniques to achieve a variety of fashion effects that complement a style. You will develop the ability to identify the appropriate products, techniques and corrective action to satisfy your client’s needs. Part of this service is to provide your client with good aftercare advice. This unit is suitable for hairdressers and barbers.

Assessment: 
Assessments combine of practical observations, and a knowledge and understanding on-line test, including Health & Saftey.

Learner will also be required to produce models for both practical lessons and examinations.

SUITABILITY

LV2: No previous hairdressing experience required.
LV3: Students must posses Level 2 Award in Colouring & Lightening Hair.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED

Your own equipment is needed for this course. Tools needed: Mannequin & Clamp, Cutting Scissors, Clippers & Trimmers, Hair Dryer, Styling Combs, Styling Brushes & Sectioning clips. Should you choose to purchase your tool kit from our salon, you can do so at special student prices.

DURATION & COST

Deposit: LV2: To book your place you need to apply a deposit (non-refundable) of €200, this covers a portion towards your registration and equipment and will confirm your attendance. LV3: €250 Deposit.

Duration of Course:  Lessons are held once per week for an average of 4 hours each lesson for the duration of 12 Weeks. One lesson is based on hands-on training and the other is based on salon experience and observation. For LV3 No observation lesson is needed.

Monthly Payments: We allow students to pay for this course on a monthly basis. Cost is of €200 per month for the duration of 3 months. This fee includes all Practical & Theory lessons, Notes & Resources, On-Line videos and Lectures (viewed in the comfort of your home), Products used in salon & City & Guilds Award Certification. For LV3 Award an additional €250 needs to be paid upon certification.
